Leadership

Akela - What does it mean?

In Cub Scout packs, Akela is a symbol of wisdom, authority, and leadership. Akela is anyone who acts as a leader to the Scouts. Akela can be a Cubmaster, Den Leader, parent, or teacher depending on where the guidance takes place. In den meetings, it is the Den Leader who is Akela.

Why have trained Cub Scout Leaders?

The founder of Scouting Baden Powell once said, “Every boy deserves a trained leader”. As a Scout Leader, you owe it to your youth to be 100% trained. Adult leaders that participate in the BSA training program are well equipped to deliver the best program possible to our Scouts. Take a little time and sign up for a class, you’ll rarely wish you had done something else with your time.

Who are the Cub Scout leaders of Pack 562?

Cub Scouting provides kids with an opportunity to develop leadership skills, problem solve, meet new people, and learn new skills. Your child will have an opportunity to experience the world around them in a new and fresh way. To find out more about our Cub Scout Program, click the link above to connect with one of our pack or den leaders.

Every pack has a pack committee, which consists of at least three members (chair, secretary, and treasurer). By handling administrative and support tasks, the pack committee allows the Cubmaster, den leaders, and their assistants to focus on working directly with the Cub Scouts.
